RedFarm provides a contemporary take on Chinese cuisine tucked into the West Village's Hudson Street. This full-service restaurant stands out for its creative dim sum-style dishes and a roster of carefully crafted dumplings that draw a steady crowd — from locals celebrating special occasions to food enthusiasts seeking a fresh spin on traditional flavors.

The interior feels intimate and cozy, with a softly lit, warmly decorated space that encourages relaxed conversation without feeling overly formal. It’s a spot that balances neighborhood comfort with a polished dining experience, making it suitable for both casual dinners and occasions that call for a bit more care in the choice of venue.

The menu leans heavily into dumplings, each variation showcasing thoughtful combinations like the Pork & Crab Soup Dumplings or the distinctive “Pac Man” Shrimp Dumplings, which pack unexpected layers of flavor and texture. Beyond the dumplings, mains such as the Grilled Jumbo Shrimp Curry and Crispy Smoked Chicken deliver generous portions that emphasize fresh, bold flavors. While the seafood fried rice hasn’t resonated equally with all patrons, the Peking Duck is often noted for its execution, especially by guests familiar with the tradition behind it.

Service at RedFarm can be a mixed bag; while staff are generally friendly and communicative, a casual atmosphere includes some quirks — like allowing dogs inside — which might catch some visitors off guard during dinner. The restaurant’s clientèle appreciates a lively yet approachable vibe rather than polished formality.

RedFarm fits well into the local dining scene for those who appreciate inventive takes on Chinese classics presented with care. Visitors looking to explore the dumpling varieties or enjoy some standout dishes like the spicy beef or unique dumpling fillings will find it rewarding. Early evening or weekend dinners tend to be best for sampling the full range of flavors before the spot fills up and the bustle grows.

Exceptionally good food, much better than the midtown location. The shrimp curry is incredible, a huge amount of delicious food. The vegetables in it, particularly the tomatoes, and the tofu are insanely delicious. The duck dish with the wraps is terrific. Pass on the seafood fried rice though. Service is a little off and they let dogs in, nothing like a whiff of dog at dinner to make you feel sick.

We were lucky to have a sneak peek of their Peking duck before it returns to the menu… exceptional (I’m Chinese) ! Everything else is super tasty too! Particularly the summer corn and oxtail dumplings! Will return for more!!!

RedFarm is absolutely fantastic. It was a top notch dining experience from start to finish. The food is amazing, the service friendly and the space quaint and warm. For our first visit we ordered the “Pac Man” dumplings, the mushrooms and vegetable spring rolls, the Seafood Fried Rice and the Grilled Jumbo Shrimp Curry. The ingredients were all incredibly fresh and flavorful. They are very generous with the seafood. The fried rice included whole lobster claw meat. The food presentations were inventive and really fun. RedFarm is now on my go-to list whenever I’m in the mood for Asian food. Highly recommend.

I recently had dinner at RedFarm on Oct. 14. I come to the city every year and I have been planning on visiting every time to get my hands on those Pac Man dumplings. Something always interfered though; I didn't have time, I came when this location was closed, etc. But this year, the stars aligned and I finally got my dumplings. The food here is no joke. We tried the lamb meatballs (I believe they were a special), the duck tacos, the dumplings and I had a Basil Peach Cobbler mocktail. We had reservations, but I was a bit late due to my misunderstanding of subway routes. My friend had already arrived and they assured him it was not a problem at all. When I arrived, we were seated at the long community table. I was worried it was going to be a tight squeeze, but there was not an issue there at all. Our server (unsure of her name, but she was a lovely blonde wearing a Wisconsin sweatshirt) was very kind and attentive. The atmosphere was quaint and homey and the food was divine. I will be returning to RedFarm on my next visit and many future visits as well.

We first fell in love with RedFarm during dine-in visits — the food, mocktails, and overall experience were fantastic — so when it came time to plan a celebration, we knew exactly where to turn. The team was wonderful to work with from start to finish. Communication was prompt and helpful as we explored menu options and coordinated logistics for pickup. Everything went smoothly on the day — easy pickup, friendly service, and the food was incredible. The Peking duck was the star of the night and fed our group of about 20 beautifully. Everyone loved it, including those with gluten-free needs who were well accommodated. It was our big splurge for the celebration, and it was absolutely worth it! Highly recommend RedFarm — both for dining in (don’t miss the mocktails!) and for catering special occasions.

We decided to try Red Farm because of their gluten-free offerings. I ordered the crispy vegetable & peanut dumplings — gluten-free option. Apparently these dumplings are always gluten-free, but the gf option is to sub out the soy sauce for gluten-free soy sauce. The dumplings were delish. I can’t wait to go back and try other dishes!

We ordered the Peking duck, wide rice noodles, and Chinese broccoli with mushrooms. The Peking duck comes in strong — flavorful meat, crispy skin, and the rare blessing of trimmed fat between skin and meat. The hoisin tastes properly authentic, and the unexpected cranberry sauce adds a small, clever twist. For NYC, this is easily one of the better Peking ducks around. That said, the duck should’ve arrived piping hot. Ours felt like it sat for about ten minutes before reaching the table. And the wrappers could be thinner — more delicate, more traditional, letting the duck itself shine. The wide rice noodles were the quiet star — perfect char, smoky bite, great texture. The Chinese broccoli dish was fine but too heavy on cornstarch, a bit too much wine, and overall saltier than it needed to be, losing the clean, bright flavor it should carry. Overall: high highs, small misses. I’d still return just for the duck and noodles

The restaurant is a gem; one of my favorite neighborhoods in New York. Every dish was delicious. The vegetable dumplings were almost too pretty to eat, the scallion pancakes hit all the right notes, and the duck fried rice? A standout that I’m still thinking about. Albert, our server, was extremely welcoming; he made us feel completely at home. Already counting down the days until my next visit. This review was made in connection with a Toast promotion.
